One case of cast metal very small movable type sorts for Japanese kanji, hiragana and katakana, case 13.5 x 13.5 cm, the type 2.2 x 05 x 0.5 cm, 25 columns x 25 rows of sort specimens; in very good condition.

The Passionate Years by Caresse Crosby

Signed by the author "'Yes' Caresse Crosby." which was her motto. Caresse was an arts patron, antiwar activist, and bohemian in the 1920s. She co-founded the Black Sun Press in 1927 with her second husband Harry Crosby, They published limited editions of works by Ernest Hemingway, D. H. Lawrence, Anais Nin, Henry Miller, and Hart Crane. Crosby is the inventor of the first modern bra, which she patented in 1914.

A fine example, in original condition, of one of the rarest illustrated works of Australian natural history.

Botanical copperplate engraving of Digitalis (Foxglove) from the first edition of Abraham Munting's opus magnum, 1696. The illustrations are remarkable for their elegance and originality. The plant dominates the foreground, filling the entire page. It is presented in a delightful pastoral scene with a farmhouse and cattle. The latin name is written on an elegantly fluttering banderole.
Excellent condition, sharply printed with a clear plate mark on watermarked paper.

Book of Hours leaf printed on vellum, c.1512 by Vostre, Paris. Many metalcuts including Saint Christopher carrying the child Jesus, dragons, grotesques, Saint Sebastian being martyred, the Delphic Sybil and an elephant. Coloured initials added by hand after the printing. Near mint condition, sharply printed on clean vellum.

This is an actual horticultural catalogue with detailed botanical information with the lithographed wrappers, a sample to show to prospective customers the fine quality of their printing and the high style of their design work. Interesting both from a printing point of view and from a botanical perspective, not to mention its beauty. A lovely copy of a scarce item.
